KIMO'S SUMMER VACATION is for children six to ten. This second picture book released by Island Paradise Publishing brings readers along from their first book SURF'S UP FOR KIMO. Kimo, like the
readers, has also grown.
On the last day of school Kimo listens to everyone's exciting plans for the summer. Lots of kids are going to the biggest and best amusement park on the mainland and Kimo is jealous. Then a walk in his
back yard becomes an adventure. He discovers his neighborhood can be just as much fun as any amusement park. This delightful story also encourages kids to experience the people, creatures, and history
of Kimo's home through illustrated page borders. The borders, along with a few hidden pictures, are described in a back glossary. Readers might even find a delicious dinner recipe.

The artist Keoni Montes brilliantly brought Surf's Up For Kimo and Kimo's Summer Vacation to life after hours of thought and discussion. Using photographs as a guide, he painted each of the
oil on canvas illustrations with the children in mind. He is a master at capturing the unique life and color on the island. Germain was fortunate to have seen his work at the Haleiwa Arts Festival
where their working partnership began.
